“Stay positive!” they say, but how? How do you be thankful and positive when it feels like you are drowning in an ocean of confusion, anger, sadness, and doubt? Or maybe you aren’t feeling those emotions in particular but still need help with being able to cultivate a grateful attitude.
Are you tired of always having a negative outlook on life? Are you realizing that this kind of mindset is self-sabotaging and only creates more negativity? In this blog, I give 3 ways on how to cultivate a grateful attitude and stay positive no matter what may transpire in your life. “I understand that it can be hard especially when your brain was hard-wired to think negatively.” These are some ways to help you swim back up to the surface of the ocean.
Remember, it could be worse.
I don’t say this to minify what anyone may go through but when you think about how much worse things could be; it makes you appreciate and realize that life isn’t that bad. For example, right now there is a Pandemic going on in the world because of CODVID-19. People are getting sick and dying, losing their jobs, and being forced to stay quarantined in their homes. It’s an absolute shit show, yet I can still find a million things to be grateful for.
I look at this as a blessing in disguise. Due to this unfortunate event, I get to work from home. This is convenient because daycare was becoming an enormous hassle. I was on the verge of losing my job. Since this complete thing, I’ve been spending a lot of time with myself. I have been working out more, meditating more, playing with my son, writing songs again; doing things that I did not have time to do because of work and my busy life before this crisis.
This messed up situation has open doors to certain things that have allowed me to be very thankful. I am thankful that I have a home to quarantine in. I’m thankful I can still work. I’m thankful that I am in an area where not too many people are affected, like New York right now. I can’t control Corona but I can control how I react to it. Remembering that things could be worse helps you cultivate a positive attitude because you are still finding light in the darkest moments.
Remember the Law of Attraction.
“ Law of Attraction is the ability to attract into our lives whatever we are focusing on.” Therefore, you can attract gratitude and a positive attitude by focusing on the things you are grateful for and the things that uplift your spirit. Constantly thinking about how grateful you are for all the blessings in your life (even if your current situation may not be ideal) will attract even more blessings for you to be even more grateful for.
It will be hard to be in a bad mood when you are getting blessings on blessings. Reality is created by what one is thinking and feeling. If you want positivity and gratitude, you must think and feel positive and thankfulness. Start listing in your mind everything you are grateful for everyday. You can make it a ritual and do it either right after you wake up or right before you go to sleep.
Keep a gratitude journal.
Ever since I’ve got myself a gratitude journal, I’ve been way more grateful for my life. I’ve learned how to cultivate a positive attitude even through the most negative experiences and situations. Remembering all the good in your life has a way of softening you up from life’s hard times. It makes you realize that you are alive and have the opportunity to change things for the better. I have 4 gratitude journals now! Gratitude made me realize that there is so much to be grateful for. Focusing on all the positive things in life really helps you be positive overall.
Gratitude is the right attitude!
Being positive is easier than you think. It just takes some practice, some deprogramming and reprogramming in the mind and behavior. Whenever things get rough, use the law of attraction to change things to benefit you. Write in your gratitude journal all the things that you are grateful for and remember, it could be worse.
If you are going through hardships, why make it harder staying negative? Use positivity to make the hard times a little less hard. In times like this, it is so easy to just give up. I want you to remember that giving up never gets you what you want. Giving up is worse than just trying. At least with trying, there is a possibility that you will get exactly what you want. Keep your head up my lionesses. Never lose your roar!
